Together, WE all did it!

With your help--WE did it!!!!

Thank you for coming out last night to the "CafeCasita!" and for all of your generosity!!!!!!!!

At about 7:30 last night the last photograph was posted on the wall….that meant that by 7:30 the $4,000.00 target was reached.  That means that with your generosity, you have CHANGED THE COURSE of lives for 20 KIDS!!

You read correctly!  Because each bunkbed equals 2 kids….and with your enthusiastic support and generosity we hit our target to supply 10 bunkbeds….we may even be able to add another 1-2 bunkbeds.  These 20-24 kids will sleep more protected at night.  The families will be spending time learning about the things that contribute in their own families to the abuse….and if the kids are sleeping safely and protected at night, not only is it just a good thing….but imagine the difference in the ability to learn in school, or protect themselves and future generations.

Thank-you also to all of the super awesome wonderful folks that came and helped make the day a success!

The two teams leave in August…team 1 Aug 11-18, team 2 Aug 19-26.  If you are interested in following the two teams to Guatemala, feel free to check up on the blog.  It is already being updated, and the bloggers will be updating daily/nearly daily once the teams take off.  That is at http://guatewooddalechurch.blogspot.com/

Again, thank you so much.

There will be a marketplace!

Folks, coffee drinkers and shoppers everywhere! Big news, hot off the press!

We will have a Marketplace!!!!!

In events that could be classified as nothing less than a MIRACLE, we have had an offer of items that you might find in a typical Guatemalan marketplace for the coffeehouse!!!!

This is news hot off of the press, so I can't tell you the specific items yet, but I know that you will absolutely WANT to bring along extra money the CafeCasita for these!

And, as always, "Special price for you!"  :)

Some times, the choices are hard!

our market will not put you to sleep!

no. You can't take the baby home.  But he sure makes you want to stop and look doesn't he?

It's coming soon! Can you smell the coffee??

Are you getting as excited for this as I am?? I hope so!
If you have been to Guatemala with us, one of the things that you learn right away is the value of being FATT. You can ask any of the team what that means....feel free to test them!

But, the F stands for FLEXIBLE. And...we are going to need a little bit of flexibility for CafeCasita. We had planned to have a number of bags of coffee from Guatemala for sale/donation as well as having a sort of "Guatemalan Marketplace" of items that were to be for sale with donations.....it seems that our bag that was coming from Guatemala with all of those items did not make it out of the country last week. So...not so much in terms of Guatemalan items for sale/donation...but still come and enjoy the coffee (cafĂ©), the atmosphere, the music, the chatter and the exhibits and the conviction that you are doing something for these families and kids!

I had the chance this week to get a sneak peek though of a couple of AMAZING watercolor prints by both Bill Blanski and Maria Brands (if you don't know them or their work yet...just getting a chance to see their work and take it home is reason enough to come!!)....their pieces are amazing!!!! You will want to come to have the chance to get those!
